Excel Stocks data type missing or greyed out?

Linked data types — Stocks and Currencies — are a Microsoft 365 subscriptionfeature. On standalone Office (2019, 2021, 2024 perpetual) they simply aren't included, so the Stocks button never appears on the Data tab. A 365 subscription is the only way to get it.
2. Connected experiences are turned off (button greyed out)
The data types pull from an online service, so if Excel's connected experiences are disabled the button greys out. Turn them on: File → Account → Account Privacy → Manage Settings → enable the experiences that analyze and download online content, then restart Excel. On a work PC this can be locked by IT.
3. Your editing region or language isn't supported
Data types roll out by region and language. If your Office editing language is set to one where they aren't available, the feature won't show. Add a supported editing language (English (United States) is safest) under File → Options → Language, then restart.
4. You're not signed in, or Office needs an update
Make sure you're signed into Excel with the account that holds your 365 license (File → Account), and that Office is current (File → Account → Update Options → Update Now). An unlicensed session or an old build can both hide the data types.
