Excel STOCKHISTORY not working?
#BLOCKED!, #CONNECT!, #VALUE!, or the function just isn't there? It's usually your Microsoft 365 setup — and even fixed, STOCKHISTORY is historical, not live. Here's each cause.

STOCKHISTORY and the Stocks data type are Microsoft 365-only. On standalone Office (2019, 2021, 2024 perpetual) the name doesn't resolve — you'll get a #NAME?error as if the function doesn't exist, because for your install it doesn't. A 365 subscription is the only fix.
2. #BLOCKED! — connected experiences are off
STOCKHISTORY calls an online service, and if Excel's connected experiences are disabled it returns #BLOCKED!. Re-enable them: File → Account → Account Privacy → Manage Settings → turn on the experiences that analyze and download online content, then restart Excel. On a work PC this may be locked by your admin.
3. #CONNECT! or #BUSY! — it can't reach the service
#CONNECT!means Excel couldn't reach the data provider — offline, a corporate firewall, or a temporary outage. #BUSY!means it's still working. Check your connection, wait a beat, and recalculate (Ctrl+Alt+F9).
4. #VALUE! — a bad symbol or date argument
#VALUE! usually means an argument is off: an unrecognized ticker, a start date after the end date, or a date typed as text. Wrap dates in DATE() — =STOCKHISTORY("MSFT",DATE(2024,1,1),TODAY()) — and confirm the symbol resolves in the Stocks data type first.
5. #FIELD! or wrong region
#FIELD!shows when a requested field isn't available for that security. And the whole feature is region-gated — if your Office language/region doesn't support the data types, STOCKHISTORY won't work at all. Set a supported editing language under File → Options → Language.
Even working, it's the wrong tool for a live price
